I’ve had a bunch of nearly useless caiman alligator scraps laying around for nearly a year. Now that I’m working on improving my edges, I thought this would be a fun experiment.
It was terrible. Caiman has a lot of hard, bony plates, and they just cracked or shattered, and I don’t even want to know what damage they did to my pricking irons. Yeah, so anyway, not doing that again.
I also made the little keeper too tight…
And, what with all of it shifting around a lot, even after gluing, and the initial difficulty of cutting the caiman, period, the edges are terrible.
But…. it’s cool, and I like it.
Fits my birthday pen just fine.
